ProAid Finance Africa (Pty) Ltd ("ProAid") is a South Africa based holding company set up to take finance to Africa. Its primary focus is on education, home improvement and social upliftment, as well as emergency needs such as medical and funeral assistance. All finance is advanced under strict vetting criteria endorsing a culture of responsible lending based on affordability.
  • ProAid was established in 2008, by shareholders that have decades of experience in both finance and trading in Africa, with a view to establish a group that could offer niche products into Africa.
  • The aim was to take education, housing and home improvements to Africa, in affordable structured financial products to support the social and economic upliftment of the region.
  • ProAid commenced its first operations in Lesotho through NetLoans Limited ("NetLoans") and Alimela Thuto Financials Limited ('Alimela') in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
  • Both operational companies are subsidiaries of ProAid Holdings Lesotho (Pty) Ltd, and are registered under the Financial Institutions Act 2012.
  • ProAid Lesotho has an experienced mananagement and back-office staff compliment and ensure accurate and timerous reporting via sophisticated computer technology and controls.
Alimela, is a subsidiary of ProAid Lesotho with a local outside shareholder who has experience in personal finance and especially education finance.

Alimela is registered as a Credit Only Provider operating under the Financial Institutions Act of 2012, and regulated by the Central Bank of Lesotho, offering loans with repayments from 6 to 36 months on personal finance up to M 40,000.

Alimela's primary focus is on personal loans for education, where the financial institution can be paid directly and the balance of funds can be utilized for books and stationery.

NetLoans, is a wholly owned subsisdiary of ProAid Lesotho, registered as Credit Only Provider operating under the Financial Institutions Act of 2012, and regulated by the Central Bank of Lesotho.

NetLoans offers personal loans with repayments from 6 to 36 months on amounts up to M 40,000, to a borrower where he or she is an employee of an employer with whom the company has a payroll deduction facility and agreement in place, with the emphahsis on affordability.

The focus of NetLoans has primarily been personal loans for home improvement, asset finance including cars and laptops, education as well as emergency medical and funeral needs.
